Do you ditch the animal print in favour of florals, and will neon survive the fashion edit? Read on for our five key trend predictions, and let us guide you through the turn of the seasons.

Colour Trends Decoded

Any fashionista already hitting the stores will know there’s an abundance of red and oranges this season. Indeed, according to the Pantone Color Institute – the Nostradamus of colour trends – we’ll see a bold, strong colour palette emerging this season. If the reference colours of Chili Pepper and Orange Tiger are a bit too bold for your wardrobe, or you’re nervous about how they’ll look against your colouring, then why not invest in a bright coloured accessory, such as this vibrant orange bag.

As well as deep reds, mustards and rust colours, we’ll also see beautiful beiges and olive green abound, muting the brave colour palette, so there’s really something for everyone. And when it comes to neon, don’t worry, flashes of vivid colours will be around into winter too, so you can keep using that vibrant scarf or bag for a good while longer.

 Checks And Prints, Oh My!

Last season was dominated by prints – everything from floral to polka dots – and this season looks set to be defined by checks. If you don’t have any in your wardrobe, it’s time to invest in some check trousers or a blazer. While the AW19 catwalks featured bold red and yellow checks, as the trend trickles down to the high street you can expect to see softened check patterns that incorporate browns, olives and mustard colourways.

Just as neon is set to hang around for a while, the trend for animal print is also here to stay. This season, however, the focus will be on mock snakeskin, in both muted and jewelled hues. In particular, you can expect to see a lot of mock-snakeskin boots, which were heavily featured on the Michael Kors and Givenchy catwalks. If you don’t have any animal print clothing, a simple update is to add a bag, scarf or hair accessory.

Vintage Girly Style

Embrace fairytale fashion this fall with some really girly fashion. We’re talking feathers on dresses, skirts with ruffles and blouses with puffed sleeves. In recognition of this extreme femininity, we’ll also see a resurgence of pearl earrings.

If you’re looking for a subtle nod to this trend, then pearl stud earrings are a simple but incredibly effective update for your jewellery box.

Knits And Belts Abound

After the flesh-baring days of summer, there’s nothing more comforting than slipping into your favourite oversized knitwear. This season, chunky jumpers and argyle knits are set to be huge. Don’t know about you, but for us that’s such a relief! You needn’t worry about looking too frumpy, thanks to the next big trend set to hit the high street….

Yes, you’ve probably already seen them around, we’re talking waist-cinching belts! This 70’s classic is going to be everywhere this season. This is a great update for your existing wardrobe, as you can invest in a wide belt and wrap it around everything, from knitwear and shirts, to coats and blazers. This trend also feeds into the girly, feminine silhouettes that are set to be really popular as the seasons change.

Accessorise, Accessorise, Accessorise

Updating your accessories has got to be the easiest way to update your wardrobe. After all, black will always be the safe and popular choice, but add a scarf with a pop of colour and suddenly you’re bang on trend! But what other accessories should you invest in this season? Here’s our run-down:

Statement bags

Look for bags in metallics or rich autumn hues such as burgundy.  If you don’t want to invest in a new bag, why not update your old one? Bag straps are hugely popular and allow you to interchange styles to not only fit the season but also go with your outfit. At Betty Loves, these are what we love!

Hairbands & Hairclips

Bows, jewelled clips, scrunchies and headbands will be really popular this autumn winter. leopard print hairbands headbandsAs will statement hair clips and barrettes. Look for headbands with beautiful prints or festooned with pearls and wear them with a loose ponytail for chic fall fashion.

Or for instant chic complement your updo with one of our bangle hair bands, we have a fantastic range of colours so you can match them with any outfit.

Blanket Capes & Ponchos

The poncho will always be a must-have, and the fashion staple looks set to stay this autumn, but in addition the less structured blanket cape is also making a statement. Worn in multiple ways and extremely versatile, the blanket cape will be a go-to accessory and is another nod to 70’s fashion.
